US Senator Cassidy Writes Letter to President Trump on Behalf of Clint Lorance

Another member of Congress, Senator Bill Cassidy of Louisiana has joined the effort to bring the case of 1LT Clint Lorance to the attention of President Trump. You can read his letter below.

Clint Lorance

After reviewing the evidence Senator Cassidy believes the facts in the case do not support the notion that Lorance should have ever received a court-martial, or been found guilty of war crimes.

In July 2012 Clint Lorance order his soldiers to fire on three men riding on a motorcycle who were speeding toward his exposed rear flank.

Two of the three enemy combatants (confirmed by fingerprints and DNA evidence) were killed, and the third escaped. Despite never firing a weapon, Lorance was convicted of two counts of murder, and one count of attempted murder.

He is currently serving a 19 year sentence for ordering his men to protect themselves.
